I am trying to run MS-CASPT2 calculation on the excited state of small actinide molecule. Surprisingly, though ground state CASPT2 finishes perfectly, excited state CASPT2 step ends up with the error:

Well, that's not MS-CASPT2, since you have NOMULT, you are just requesting 112 SS-CASPT2 calculations. I wouldn't use both SHIFT and IMAGINARY, the latter only should be enough in most cases. Difficult convergence could be a sign of poor reference (CASSCF) function, you may need to increase the active space, or just force CASPT2 convergence (increase iterations, loose threshold) and see if there are intruder states that could give you a hint.

Hi,
I am sorry by mistake I wrote MS-CASPT2 in the first phrase after which i followed CASPT2 only, thanks for your help. I would follow your instruction and try to execute. On this note, I would like to mention that that to check the accuracy, I have tried to run the same CASPT2 calculation with 41 SS-CASPT2 states with the similar active space (as for 112 SS-CASPT2 calculations), and the calculations ended up normally without any convergence issue. What does this indicate ?
Please help me out with your invaluable suggestions.
