I've encountered an issue when using (QD-)NEVPT2 in conjunction with RICD or Cholesky decomposition.
When I attempted non-relativistic QD-NEVPT2 calculations, I noticed that the results differed depending on whether I used RICD, Cholesky decomposition, or neither of them.
Here, I would like to share this issue using QD-NEVPT2/DMRG-CI calculations on benzene as examples.
6 π-orbitals were optimized in SA-CASSSCF before DMRG-CI.
The energies of DMRG-CI wavefunctions are almost the same as those of CASSCF wavvefunctions.
However, it seems that when RICD or Cholesky decomposition is used, there may be some discrepancies in the diagonal and off-diagonal parts of the effective Hamiltonian.
In particular, the contributions of class (0)' appears to be quite large.
This leads to errors in the total energy of benzene of at least a few Hartrees.
Versions of programs I used are:
OpenMolcas version 24.02
DMRG version 3.1.1-22a0f5706267a24c183ae1bd3831b54e5a70fcc4 (HEAD) release-3.1.1
NEVPT version 2.1 (e1484fd4901ae93ab0188bde417cf5dc440a8a3b (HEAD))
MOLCAS_NEW_DEFAULTS was set to NO.
